What is the Church of Christ?
Have you ever searched for the word “church” in your favorite mapping app? How many results appeared? Most likely, many different churches emerged by various names. If you’ve gone one step further and visited these churches' websites or even attended them in person, you probably noticed numerous differences, including the worship service, the features you might find in the building, and how to be saved. The variations are easily noticeable.
If you're like most people, this is very confusing. How can there be so many different ways to worship God? It is especially troubling when many of these distinctions directly oppose one another. What would God want? Would He endorse the confusion that we find in the religious world? A close reading of the New Testament gives us a clear answer. (Ephesians 4:4-6)
The Bible tells us time and time again that there will be those who will distort the Gospel. Those who will look to have their ears tickled with teachers who will tell them what they want to hear. (2 Timothy 4:3) There is a dire warning given for individuals who follow such ideas, especially for those who are teaching them. (2 John 9-11)
Here is the question of the day: Is there a way to know what God wants from us, especially from the church which He purchased with His own blood? (Acts 20:28) The New Testament in the Bible tells us that the answer is a clear and resounding yes! (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
The church of Christ is a group of people who have chosen to follow Christ. We are a group of people who are doing our best to worship God in the way that He has outlined. Although our members are far from perfect, we search the scriptures daily (Acts 17:11), comparing our individual lives and collective practices, striving to align them to the words of the New Testament.
Will you join us in our lifelong walk to be the church that God designed? (Romans 16:16)
